How Essential Oils Work
Can essential oils really help? Yes, they can. They are powerful, aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They have been around for centuries and before modern medicine, they were used for all things. To calm those with behavior struggles, you will use your essential oils aromatically and topically. When used aromatically, the Essential oils are quickly absorbed by the smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system by way of the olfactory nerve. The limbic system is part of the brain that supports a variety of functions including smell, emotions, behavior, and memory. For this reason, essential oils have an especially powerful effect via aromatic application. You may also want to apply topically up and down the spine diluted and on pulse points and back of neck.
How Often Do I Need to Use Them?
Personally, I use my essential oils everyday. I put them on in the morning and throughout the day if I am feeling anxious and in my diffuser all day. I also run my diffuser at night with calming oils to help me sleep. If I am using them topically, then I apply every 4-6 hours or as symptoms come back.
Which essential oils are best for calming?
Wood Oils – can be very grounding and stabilizing. Think of a tree during a storm. It sways and moves, but its roots ground it.
Floral/Citrus Oils – Can be very calming as well. Lavender oil is considered a nervous system restorative and helps with inner peace, sleep, restlessness, irritability, panic attacks, nervous stomach and general nervous tension.
How Do I Know Which Ones to Purchase?
After all of my research, I have decided to partner with doTerra in my business because I know the high standards that doTerra has when it comes to providing essential oils for therapeutic benefits. I only use doTerra and I advise my clients to do the same due to the rigorous testing and proof of where our oils come from. One thing you do not want is an essential oil that is not 100% Pure as it is very easy to adulterate essential oils with many things that are harmful.
I’m Ready to Get Started. Now What?
